Baptist Academy Faculty

PRINCIPAL:
Dr. Hensworth W.C. Jonas, B.A., M.A., D.P.Th., D.Min. (c)

Dr. Jonas is the Founder of the Baptist Academy of Antigua and has served from the beginning up to the present as the Principal. He completed his undergraduate studies, magna cum laude, at Oklahoma Baptist University. He also earned graduate degrees from the Pensacola Theological Seminary and the Master’s International School of Divinity. He has done additional graduate study at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Walden University. His other roles in the East Caribbean Baptist Mission include Executive Director of the ECBM and Presiding Elder of the Baptist Circuit of Churches. He has been with the Central Baptist Church and later the ECBM in a vocational capacity since December 31, 1985.

SENIOR VICE PRINCIPAL—ADMINISTRATION & EARLY CHILDHOOD:
Mrs. Vandah M. Jonas, B.B.S.

Mrs. Jonas serves as Senior Vice Principal (Administration & Early Childhood). She also teaches home economics in the Secondary Division. She is a graduate of the Teacher Education Department of the Antigua State College and the Master’s International School of Divinity. She has been with the ECBM in a vocational capacity since September 1, 1994.

VICE PRINCIPAL—SECONDARY:
Mrs. Karen L. Wehner, B.A.

Mrs. Wehner serves as Vice Principal for the Secondary Division, Student Accounts Officer, and the CXC Mathematics teacher in the Secondary Division. She is a graduate of the University of the West Indies. She has been with the ECBM in a vocational capacity since September 1, 1995.

VICE PRINCIPAL—ELEMENTARY:
Ms. Nadine L. Smith, B.Sc.

Ms. Smith serves as Vice Principal for the Elementary Division, General Accounts Officer, and Grade 6 teacher. She is a graduate of the Pensacola Christian College. She has been with the ECBM in a vocational capacity since September 1, 1993.

SUPERVISOR—SUPPORT SERVICES:
Mr. Ian Blair, Dip. Tech.

Mr. Blair serves as Supervisor (Support Services) and he teaches in the Secondary Division in the areas of CXC Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Bible. He is a graduate of the University of Guyana. He also serves as a deacon and trustee of the Baptist Circuit of Churches, ECBM. He has been with the ECBM in a vocational capacity since September 1, 2004.

SECONDARY TEACHERS:

(Part time teachers have been engaged in the subject areas of Physics, Spanish, Caribbean History, Social Studies, Physical Education, Principles of Business and Principles of Accounts.)

ELEMENTARY TEACHERS:

(Pre-College Student Workers assist the Elementary Staff in the areas of instruction and grading

PRESCHOOL TEACHERS & AIDES:

(Pre-College Student Workers assist the Preschool Staff in the area of instruction.)
